Note: subscription pricing for our virtual studios is scheduled to begin January 1, 2022. Until then, the service is available free for groups of up to hundreds of musicians. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for groups larger than 10.
JackTrip Labs provides access to state-of-the art virtual studios for a fee. These leverage cutting edge cloud computing technology to deliver the best audio performance possible.
We offer monthly subscription plans that enable you to only pay for what you use. We measure this using studio minutes and studio hours, where one studio minute is used when one musician is connected to the studio for one minute. Similarly, one studio hour is used when one musician is connected to the studio for one hour.
For example: with a bank of 100 studio hours, you could have one musician connect to your studio for 100 hours, or have 100 musicians connected for 1 hour. By charging based on studio minutes and studio hours, costs are directly related to (a) the size of your group, and (b) how much time you spend using the service.
There is no cost for the musicians connecting to a studio; only the owner of the studio will be charged.
Nonprofit pricing is available only to nonprofit charitable organizations in good standing, who meet the full eligibility requirements in your country. Please contact email@example.com to sign-up for nonprofit pricing.
Whenever you start a virtual studio, you will be asked to verify the desired room size (see available room sizes below). Each size room is able to accommodate a range of total musicians. You'll pay per minute for the number of musicians connected, or for the room's minimum number of musicians, whichever is greater.
Make sure to choose the correct size room for your group! If the room is too small, it won't accommodate all of your musicians. If the room is too big, you'll pay for unused space.

JackTrip Virtual Studios can be created on-demand by clicking "Create Studio" in the top-right of the Virtual Studios page. However, another less common option is to maintain your own "Self-Hosted" JackTrip or Jamulus audio server. There is no cost for running your own audio server.
